Lucy Cran is an artist
working with objects, performance, textiles and collage. Her sculptures,
installations and performances are concerned with the sonorous potential
of objects and instruments: their cultural meaning and functional status,
as well as their brute presence. Weight and form become ancillary as sound
and quietude, speaking and listening are used as substance and subject
matter. Her work has also explored the combining and sampling of popular
music and the relationship of text and speech and their affect on the
ways in which objects and beats are arranged and experienced. She is also
the editor of Tits on Paper a periodical fanzine of writings
and digital collages.
